This Town is So Small, It's Barely on The Map!

I got the update tonight from Karl's daughter Carol.  Karl and Mo are in a super small town called Piedmont, OH.  Karl did not have cell service, so he briefly used Mo's phone to call Linda, who called Carol, who called me (whew).

They rode 80 miles today from Hebron.  If you look on the map, Piedmont isn't even listed, but it's a little south east of Freeport.  The lake south of Freeport is where they are staying.  Karl and Mo were looking for a place to camp tonight, but some locals recommended a small hotel right on the lake.  From their window, they can see right out onto Lake Piedmont.

They have been traveling on Rt 40 for the past couple of days, but now they have headed north slightly on Rt 22 to be able to hit the rail trail in Pittsburgh.  They are about 75 miles from the start of the trail, so weather permitting, they will get there tomorrow and probably won't start the trail until Thursday.  And, if weather permits, they're hoping it will take them 2 days to get to Cumberland and another 3 days to get home.  So, it looks like they may be home sometime around the first of next week.

Hopefully, Karl will have cell reception in Pittsburgh tomorrow night.  I'll update you all as soon as I have more information.

  1. Hmmm...I bet I know why Karl's in such a hurry to get home, he probably needs a haircut.
