Sunday 6/7/09

This route isn't the exact route that they took today since they were actually on the C&O Canal path.  But, it does give you an idea of where they had been.  Click HERE for a great map of the C&O Canal.

Sorry about my delay in posting for Sunday.  Karl and Mo rode from Cumberland, MD to Hancock, MD on Sunday.  They did a total of 70 miles, but some of that was to ride outside of town and to dinner.  The mud on the trail started to dry up, but there were still a few puddles.

About 10 miles out of Hancock, they rode on the paved trail that runs above the C&O Canal Path for several miles.  This paved trail is definitely much better than the Canal Path because it's not as bumpy.  And, I guess after traveling about 3000 miles, the padding in your bike shorts starts to wear thin.

There was a lot of scenery to view today and a lot of wildlife.  They saw turkey running across the trail, deer, turtles and even an irate goose who didn't want them to pass by.  After convincing the goose that they didn't want to eat him, they were allowed passage.
