By Cracky It's June Already!

It's the first day of June.  Karl and Mo are getting closer and closer to home!  Today they rode 74 miles together from Springfield to Hebron, OH.  I'm sure after 6 weeks of being together EVERY day that they enjoyed a little alone time yesterday.

The weather started out good today, but about 1 hour outside of Columbus it started getting dark behind them.  By the time they got to Columbus, it had caught up to them and had began sprinkling.  They ducked into a restaurant for lunch and to wait out the thunderstorm.  After lunch, the sun came out and they started riding again.

While they were in Columbus, they stopped to take pictures of a replica of Columbus' ship that he sailed across the Atlantic.  I asked Karl which ship it was, but he couldn't remember.  So, I looked it up on the internet. (Thank God for the internet and cell phones, because if Karl had decided to do this trip 15 years ago, we would have no idea where he was or what he had seen until he came home.  And, then he'd have to take his film to Kmart to be processed and wait a week to get the pictures back.  Then he'd realize that his thumb was in the middle of all of the good pictures.) Anyway, Karl and Mo saw a replica of the Santa Maria.  HERE is some information about the replica that they saw.

They probably have another day and a half or so inside of Ohio.  They have been traveling a little north so that they can avoid some mountains and hit a rail trail that goes from Pittsburgh to Cumberland.  I'll keep you posted tomorrow!

  1. Now that Sammy jr. saw grandpa and stayed with him he no longer asks where he is. So the next day he woke up and now he wants to know how he (sammy) got home. All three kids did an amazing job not giving the surprise away when dad call me Carol first and then Mom while driving up to see him. it was a long ride but they all did awesome. We had a great time seeing them.
