Ok, before you start sending me nasty comments about the title of this post, I will explain.
Karl and Mo left Pontoon Beach this morning with the threat of rain. They thought that they'd try to get as far as Vandalia which was about 60 miles or so. When they got to Vandalia, they stopped at a Ponderosa for lunch. The cashier charged them both the Senior Citizen Rate, but they hadn't realized that until later. Karl says it pays to bike across the country when you're older. You just may get the Senior rate.
When they were finished their lunch, the sky was still overcast, but no rain so they decided to keep riding. They rode to Effingham, IL. Since the odometer only read 95 miles at this point, they decided to ride around and explore the town a little so they could make it an even 100 miles.
They had a light tail wind today that was just enough to push them along. And, once again Apollo and Helios were able to avoid the rain. While they were eating dinner, it finally decided to downpour. I'm curious if we'll have a drought on the east coast once these two "sun gods" get home.
The boys are about 75 miles from Indiana and if all goes well tomorrow, they should be done with Illinois.
